Deck Timing It

There are always less photos on my day off. LOL But we had play, fun, chilling and it has been a good day. 

I had to go up to Deboers to get my clipper charger and scissors that was repaired. It was good to get out even for something like this. 

Dogs like this weather better than rain or real heat. 

The dogs are fascinated in the birds playing in the birdbath. They don't go too close. They just are riveted to the activity. 

One wonders what they are thinking.

Rain and More Rain

We’ve had rain, rain, and more rain, so outdoor time has been pretty limited. Jersey has decided she wants no part of it. Her plan? Stay inside, chill on the couch, and watch TV with Nathan. When I tried to take her photo, she just gave me that look that said, “Oh great... a camera.” 😆

A few of the Havanese were brave enough to venture outside despite the rainy weather, but when it was time for the treat hunt, they came racing back indoors in a hurry!

Rain or not, it’s been a wonderful day filled with happy pups, wagging tails, and plenty of fun. All participated. Everyone won.

In and Out on a Hot Day

The best outdoor lazing device is this couch outside. The dogs love it and so do I.

We have a great bunch here that play up a storm. Then they nap. We need to do the same thing, I think. Well Nathan does. I never get one in. LOL

The house is cool. The dogs and I appreciate it more than you know.

Games night tonighht indoors as the mosquitoes are awful. We bough dunks in hoping to reduce the population. I think wearing netting is wide. hahahaha

Lazing Around

I am slowly combing out everyone that is boarding here. We just finished feeding. Nathan is off. He is watching Korean tv and sometimes Japanese tv - his passion. 

I managed to print out a dryer vent and install it as it was broken. See, you can do repairs with 3d printers as well. I have had my fair share of issues with the printer but you can't bring your printer in for repair. They ship you parts and directions and you repair it yourself. I have had to repair a number of things. You don't know what you don't know till you don't.

Dogs are enjoying the weather. They are playing a ton and it is delightful to watch.

I have a dog to groom unexpectedly who is going home a day earlier so on to it, I must.

Pouring Rain

Luna is zooming like a tiny tornado, but the skies have opened up and now it’s pouring. That means no outdoor adventures for her and Logan unless we want their fresh grooming to turn into a swampy mess. Honestly, they don’t seem to mind. They’re having a great time indoors.

The Havanese are having the time of their lives—some are fully invested in the action, either watching the play unfold or jumping in to join the fun. The lazier crew has claimed the couch, happily lounging while the TV hums in the background or while Dennis gets lost in his game.

The Wild Bunch

Stryker was busy. He was playing with Luna and Brodie all day. He is going to be a mighty tired boy. 

We were putting our gazebo curtains up. Only got 1 gazebo done so far. One job at a time. Dennis is creating a list. LOL

It is pretty muggy out there with warnings so each time we bring them out for a bit we always add ice to the water bowls. We keep the old dogs indoors other than quickly outdoors and then in. This weather is hard for the seniors.

Hope you are managing well. We are so excited about having air - it is unreal what you appreciate but used to take for granted. Dogs are mighty happy.

Rain is Coming

Nava was sitting on the chair as the princess she is all comfie and all.

We are waiting for the rain. It is ever so humid outdoors. 

The dogs are back to saying I appreciate the air not the hot humid weather outside and I do not blame them.

Logan and Oakley arrived. Hazel has departed and Nava will be departing shortly.

It is the quietest it has been for boarding. No one seems to be going anywhere.

A Day and More

Amy is waiting for her supper. Usually she tells you off. It is 5pm not 430 but today it was 6pm and she was patient. Maybe she thought it wasn't the time she thought it was.

On my day off I had to go to Deboers. I have to go next week too. I had to scissor as both clippers were broken and 1 charger is broken. I just had to get parts for the clippers and I am thrilled they are working. 

Wed are going to watch From after I get my AMS placed together as it is broken and I had to do some tests, log them to see if they are going to send me parts so I can disassemble it again to put them in. They have a racket. They send you parts. You do the work. Syill love the 3d printer though but it is not plug and play.

It is balmy outdoors. We get air and suddenly it is not too hot. Got to return the fans though the one Atousa lent us, I actually really like so will have to find out where she got it from. 

Despite all that - ams is getting together and we are going to watch Froms with dogs. How about you?

What a Day!

Bad day - lots of things breaking so going to make this blog short. I have not eaten nor exercised. 

This is Alfie after his groom waiting to go home. He has had a fabulous time. I can't believe how much he enjoyed this visit. 

All the dogs are outside as I type. I am awaiting my watch to charge so I can exercise as I track it.

Cooling Times

Alfie gets groomed tomorrow and heads home. He has had a fabulous time here and I mean fabulous. He has really found his play.

We woke up to a cool house. Ther dogs are happy. We are happy. When it is too hot, you truly are drained. 

Ms Ellie was here for a grooming and it was cool enough to use the warm dryers - hooray!

Everyone is relaxing, enjoying and playing!

Let There Be Air

This is Ms. Katie. She is enjoying the visit.

Our air just finally was installed at 4pm. It took all day. We still have fans over vents trying to push the cooler air around. I will return the fans after the house cools down. Just let me know where to deliver in email. It was so appreciated and to be honest, it has been brutal but we went downstairs a lot as it was cooler and now I can groom as I do not have to deal with dryers making the house hotter. I sprayed dogs to cool down and put out cooling mats which they hoarded but we are down to 86f in the house already and that is a significant difference. We are hoping 70s by tomorrow and we will return the fans. We really couldn't have done these past 2 weeks without them. 

Katie and Trigger was caught hoarding the vents. LOL Can you blame them but they are already not doing so. 

We played games in the house. I was rather crabby as days of this heat has been much and sleep not great. I would sleep 2 hours, change the cooling pads and take a shower. My watch said I had 4 hours sleep last night. I wish the dogs had a watch on them to tell me how much they slept but they nap here and there so they play catch-up. 

One dog peed on the carpet downstairs so I gave been busy using our carpet spotting machine. We have no rugs except a part of the basement and the front door. 

The dogs are eating and Nathan gave them a veal bone. That is a coveted thing here.

Oh Boy

This one has become comfortable enough that it walks on Dennis back while hee plays a game. It is a riot.

Trigger and Katie arrived. It is always good to see them.

Nathan's day off is today. He figured he would be dealing with the air guys so he decided today was the day.

It is really hot here and I am putting out cool towels, ice water etc. We are hoping they come early so we can get air on early. We shall see what tomorrow brings. 

Alfie has become so comfortable that he is in the thick of things. 

Too Hot

We got some better news. Our new air conditioner will be installed on Friday. It takes a full day for installation. The original date was the 15th, which felt excruciatingly difficult. Until today, it has been managable (it is hot today) but we have ice filled water dishes, cold frozen towels and cooling mats and the dogs are doing really well. By Saturday night, we will be dancing but what an expensive investment that you can't do without. Air conditioners are very expensive now as 95% come from the states and many didn't order thinking the tarrifs would go away but they didn't so pray yours doesn't go out. 

Due to this expense, we may not open the pool this year as we can't replace that air conditioner as well as the pool heaters are the same price - about the same price as the air conditioner. I am trying to take that in as it is truly my holiday but it is also life and one can't whine, can we. But to have air is a blessing, imho. You don't know what its like till you don't have. So poor we will be but comfortable we and the dogs will be and that is truly what counts. I thank everyone for the use of the fans. After Saturday, we will attempt to deliver them back to you. 

I made chicken flavoured treats for the dogs. They ADORED them. You should try. It is chicken broth frozen that we gave them outdoors then hosed down the deck as they do get a tad sticky on your shoes or feet. I will make then again as they were that loved. 

Our visiting Morkie is really doing well. He has adapted and has made huge strides in the socialization department. I hope he visits every now and then to build up his confidence. He is really a nice dog and enjoys the other dogs. He is thriving with the dogs. It makes me happy.

Socializing

Mochi is doing well. He is progressing. He is now socializing. Bravo, little one. They are going to get a dog that is more trusting and social now. Though, I think he should come for playdates on a regular basis so he doesn't lose that social window. That is just me but we do offer a great social aspect to our boarding and it works.

I am proud that we can make a difference in their lives. Every dog needs to be social with other dogs here and there. We fear what we do not experience. 

It is warm today. Shout out to Sherry who is celebrating her birthday today.

They checked our electricity and we will hear tonight when we get an air conditioner. It most likely won't be for another 10 days as they are that busy. I am starting to think - can I make it all summer without one and save $$? LOL

Dogs are doing fine. We put out cool mats, fans are going all night to bring cool air in. 

I am making dog bowl stands so you can fit in a bowl into it and they can feed without arching their necks. Yesterday I made a doorstop so we can have a cross breeze across the upstairs as the door kept blowing shut. Silly things you can make with the printer that end up useful.

1st Visit

This is Mochi the Morkie. It is his first time visiting us. We are getting him used to the house and the dogs.

He comes to me and likes me. If he doesn't see me, he will fuss but when I am in his sight, he is fine. Dennis is going to take him at night so we get him adjusted to the dogs slowly. I have him with me. It is Nathan's birthday and we hope to get him playing before he goes home on Thursday.

I want to thank Fudge for lending us a fan. Tomorrow the air guys come to investigate if we need an electrician 1st to handle the air conditioner. They arrive tomorrow. Installation won't be till next week, After it is installed, we will return the fans. The dogs and I thank you for the lend profusely.

I made Nathan a couple of funny things for his birthday. Many called or texted - which made him feel good. He skipped walking today as it is simply too warm for the dogs to walk. I do hope it cools down this week. 

We did a session with the dogs that was my version of the hunt and seek game. They had a blast. treats - yes - we will work for treats!

On Deck Time

It is Nathan's birthday tomorrow so he gets that day and Friday off. 

He has been walking a different dog several times a day. I am impressed and hope it keeps us.

Brodie and Pierce departed. 

From is back on tv today so Dennis and I will watch that with the dogs. He has to feed the dogs first.

I just made grilled cheese sandwiches for dinner today. I half burned one. LOL I gave the unburned ons to Dennis - of course and ate the partially burnt ones for myself. That is how it works. Do they notice? 

Dogs are relaxing and we have not seen the racoons. I hope we never see them. I do not want racoon babies. They need to find a different yard.

We played a hide and seek game today. 

Messy Times

Weather is good. Not too hot and it is comfortable.

We have an old dog visiting us - actually 2 and they are very comfortable.

I made spaghetti with spinach, tomatoes, marinara and chicken. It was yum but the dogs wanted some and we said No. LOL That is okay as they did have a treat - just not spaghetti.

This is Alfie on his fave bed. He just thinks it is the best bed ever. I have not laid on it but it is puffy and looks comfie. The pups always loved it.

Dogs are doing wonderful. 

We had Gucci here who went home after her grooming otherwise it is a slow day so I managed to get exercise in.

Sunny and Bright

Forest is visiting to get spruced up. What you can't see is the brown in his coat. His colouring is a throwback to many generations back. You rarely see this display of colour.

He had an amazing amount of fun. Winston was also here playing like a crazy dog.

I went into the pool house to get my blower and I heard movement. I shut the door - the chicken I am and sent Dennis to get it and tell me what it was. It was a chipmunk. I feel better. LOL

Looks like our air conditioner has completely died. They want $6800 for a new one or 5 grand to repair as it needs a motor. If anyone has some fans we can borrow - please... till we figure it out. The pool heater is about the same amount - a bit less so not going to open till next year. With taxes it is about 15 grand they want between the 2. Oh well... Frustrated is an understatement. 

I am also looking for cooling beds for the dogs that I can put in a freezer. 

Dogs head out after breakfast and stay outdoors with one of us in the shade. It is actually cooler out there. 

I am still grooming but using a blower. It takes longer but heat is too much. This just blows cool air around. It takes me an extra half hour but appreciated by dog and me. I am hoping it gets cold. - so laughing... Besides, I need the grooming for these expenses. LOL

Dogs had fun today. I used a lot of games to have them enjoy. It is Dennis day off. Tomorrow is Nathan's day off.

Heat is ON

We are hot here. It is actually cooler outside so we spent a bunch of time lazing out back. I am taking several showers a day to get cool - literally.

We have someone coming tomorrow to look at our air conditioner. It was brutal to sleep last night. 

Dennis took the older dogs downstairs in the basement as it is cool there. I can even exercise it is so cool as it is semi under the ground. Dennis and the dogs slept till 945am as it was so delightful. Me, Nathan and the dogs are not happy. I put cooling items down to stay cool in the bed. They all hovered around us to stay cooler making us hot. LOL It is what it is. 

Today I sat outside with my ipad and the dogs joined me. It is actually cooler outdoors than in the house. 

We played a game with the snuffle mat that Sherry gave us. It was a game of the attack of the snuffle mat sort of thing. They had so much fun.
