We Had a Visit

Here is the gallery.

We are now down to 2 available pups.

It was their 1st time with visitors and they did really well. Some hit the pad and some did not but too young for that. They are pups in training!

Next week we have 3 families visiting that commited to the Yoshi pups.

Thank you truly for the pasta!

Nails and Stryker

Here is the gallery.

Nails had to be done as they were getting caught in everything. It's a lot of work to do so many. But it was done and Stryker was up to playing with the pups.

They seem to have no issue exploring near and far. They will even explore by themselves not needing the siblings to keep them company.

Bravo little ones!

Lots of Changes

Here is the gallery.

The pups have had a lot of changes since last night. They went upstairs to stay overnight without mom last night. You can see it in the gallery and the videos.

Be sure to check out the shorts. Plus the main directory of the videos here.

How did they do? Much better than Yoshi who fretted all night and watched them on the ipad. I wasn't sure if her watching them or not was better but I didn't get much sleep. We are hopeful tonight is better.

They had accidents as the room was way too large and the pads way too far for them at this age. We will correct that tonight. But all and all they did wonderful. Yoshi not so much.

Then I took them upstairs to play in the hall and bedrooms. It was a first for them. They explored all over, played and was mighty comfie. Yoshi watched and played some with them. It was a huge success.

The pups are doing well. They are more than fine on multiple floor surfaces now with no slipping.

They had fun and are now sleeping in their xpen for I imagine an extended session.

Dennis got to sleep in his bed for the 1st time since Nami's pups were born. He has been sleeping or staying awake in the recliner. One forgets how hard it is to stay up all night, partially sleep during the day and do all the things that must be done.

The pups are really wonderful beings!

5 Weeks 2 Days Old

Here is the gallery.

Pups are doing well. They may go upstairs in a day. We shall see. We are monitoring water drinking as that is important.

They didn't get to play with Stryker today but they may on their next session. I got to sit and play with them not just take videos and photos. I was delighted. They do have teeth.

What is in store next?

Water drinking

Upstairs play

Upstairs to sleep

Playing in Hall: 5 Weeks 1 Day Old

Here is the gallery.

The pups are progressing nicely. They may be able to go upstairs in a day or 2.

They had a play session today in the hall and no slips and slides where yesterday as they were adjusting to the tile, they had some. Today they are mighty sure footed.

Stryker still is dumbing down his play to be gentle gentle. He surprises me and he so appreciates having them play with him.

We tried Nami but think she is missing her pups. She didn't want to play with the Yoshi pups. Hallie is thrilled to have Stryker. I am sad about that but impossible to keep them all.

We went through our long waiting list and it is long and no one but 3 wants a puppy at this time. They want spring pups. Really? So for the 1st time ever we have 3 pups available. Imagine that! If interested, send mail to nathan@potechin.com

Nathan introduced a puppy to Ollie's owner and to Ollie. Exposures are a good thing.

Today we will have our grand daughter and her boyfriend come to get River and we will ask if she wants to play with the pups. We shall see how they do with them. With not updating so many blogs, I can do more for these pups. They were overdue to have the exposures but are up to the challenge mighty nicely!

Be sure to check out the shorts. Plus the main directory of the videos here.

I will be adding photos and videos as I can through the day!

New Digs: 5 Weeks Old Plus 1st Hall Gallery

Here is the gallery with new area etc.

The pups have turned 5 weeks. They moved pens. The pen is much larger and they had to deal with flooring, which they did rather well with.

We had a bit of fussing asking for mom to join them. She stayed out watching them adjust, which they did pretty fast.

We will be taking them out in the hall later today. Their world is about to change - well it already has!

Be sure to check out the shorts. Plus the main directory of the videos here.

4 Weeks 6 Days Old

Here is the gallery.

Tomorrow this crew will be 5 weeks. They will have a big change. Their pen in the afternoon will be taken down and they will move over to the large pen. Let's see how Stryker and the pups adapt as Stryker will be out of the xpen and in the general population.

4 Weeks 5 Days Old

Here is the gallery. I will add to it through the day.

Each day the pups are eating more and more without digestion issues.

In 2-3 days they will have flooring exposed and be in the larger pen. Their xpen will come down. Stryker will be out with the rest of the dogs adjusting to activity. He will learn to sleep in a bed with others and us.

These pups will start to come out for play sessions. In just a few days their lives will change for the better.

Be sure to check out the shorts. Plus the main directory of the videos here.

4 Weeks 4 Days

Here is the gallery.

Nathan spends more time with the pups now that they are getting older. Some nibble at their food and others eat well. But we persist daily. They must be eating and drinking before they can go upstairs.

As they have not had proper floor experience they may be going up late. Just a reality.

Some are drinking water.

They are loving, wagging tail excited to see you. Yoshi remains an excellent mom.

4 Weeks 3 Days: 1st Food

Here is the gallery.

The pups had their 1st solid food today. You see this smarty pants above? He not only walked over to the dish and ate but walked across the pen to use the pad without any help nor any prompting. How amazing is that?

The pups all tried the food. They did eat but not as if they were starving. That will come. Each time they will eat more but after trying food you must wait till the next day to see if their bowels stay solid. Their disgestion system develops at its own individual rates so we watch, we either wait if they have loose bowels or we continue introducing if their bowels stay solid. We always do this between the 4 and 5 week. We have had rarely introduced at 3 weeks when moms have too many pups to maintain them and they stop gaining which is an indicator that they need more than mom's milks. So far, Yoshi even though she is small, is maintaining them fine. She seems to eat a ton of food throughout the day more than any other mom we have had. I guess this is her way of still being able to supply them with mom's milk. Good for her!

It is painfully obvious that they need more room but we will give them that on the 28th - 5 days from now. All the Nami and Hallie pups will have departed and we can take their pen down and place them in a larger pen. I will have access to my couch and even Yoshi will have more room. At night Dennis opens up the gate and she has the entire 1st floor to roam or get comfortable in. Dennis also makes sure she goes outside and has a break from mothering when they are sleeping. We strive for balance for moms. It makes them better moms and it makes them love the process. Yoshi is truly an amazing mom.

These pups are getting so fun. They wag their tails as they get excited to interact with you. No fear - just wow a human!
